FEEDBACK FROM CUSTOMERS

Dustin_Simeons Dustin S.

“Finally, gone are the days spent post-holing or snowshoeing up a steep slope, just killing myself to barely keep up with my pack-a-day smoker friend who tele skis and kicks my ass all day. I have put in my dues by traveling around in the backcountry from the Rockies to the Sierras carrying my board on my back. I can now travel with ease and go further than I ever could before. A custom Cold Smoke Splitboard is just what the doctor ordered and the 2012-2013 season was full of great backcountry powder riding. “Amazing craftsmanship — the board is tight and custom fit to my preferred style. Very attractive pricing for backcountry riders of all abilities.”This year I decided to upgrade my setup by purchasing the Spark Blaze splitboard-specific binding from Cold Smoke. After four October splitboarding trips I am convinced that this was one of the finest investments that I have ever made.  The list of qualities found with Cold Smoke Splitboards endless: Amazing craftsmanship — the board is tight and custom fit to my preferred style. Very attractive pricing for backcountry riders of all abilities. Cold Smoke is knowledgeable about products, terrain and safety. And exhibits prompt and quality customer service — these guys will go well out of their way to hook you up. Kyle is passionate about the mountains and splitboarding, and Cold Smoke’s products reflect this spirit. I would recommend Cold Smoke Splitboards to anyone who wants to join the splitboarding revolution. Thanks guys.” – Dustin S.

“I felt elated and certainly thankful when Kyle and crew finished building my little splitty. The board itself is over eight years old, yet has held its integrity after being split last season. We’ve been through many feats together: negative weather, ice, slush, steep climbs, scraping trees, miles of flat roads (Ouch on the hammies!), streams, rivers and rocks. It took me awhile to get used to the technicalities and small nuances — like putting the board back together, tearing skins apart and keeping them dry, setting my bindings correctly, and staying warm while doing all of this. By mid-season I felt completely comfortable assembling, transitioning, and reassembling my newly split board.

“This local company excellently provides their customers with professional and easygoing service that is unsurpassable.”I have had no problems with any of the hardware; it still functions as well as it did on the first day. The Voile puck/pin binding system is great, and allows me to use any bindings on hand. The inner epoxy edge (where it was split) is as effective as a metal edge. Since it was made from a really old board, there have been some pieces from the base that popped out while taking the skins off, but the Cold Smoke guys fixed it promptly. This local company excellently provides their customers with professional and easygoing service that is unsurpassable. Cold Smoke lives up to their mission of providing an affordable product of outstanding quality and sharing their passion for the backcountry. I will continue to go to them as a valuable resource as long as I live in this area. I have had so much fun exploring enchanted forests and climbing up to a beautiful view only to relish each joyful second on the way down. I am looking forward to this season!” -Amanda E.

“This board is ridiculously playful. The rockered nose makes the Voodoo a blast in powder. Just point that thing and shoot! You’ll want to surf snow all day long. But the camber behind your rear foot seems to serve a couple different purposes. In ride mode, it gives the deck a lot of pop — especially combined with the carbon stringers. Just load that tail and launch yourself! Turns come easily. You’ll be hopping back and forth from toe to heel side edges in no time. “I gave it more than 50 days last season, and the Voodoo is showing no signs of slowing down. I’m sold. I don’t think there’s a better all-around splitboard out there.” On the climb, the camber tends to give the board a little more grip. Slick skintracks are no match for this machine. A little lean to the rear and she locks right in. And this deck is super durable. I gave it more than 50 days last season, and the Voodoo is showing no signs of slowing down. I’m sold. I don’t think there’s a better all-around splitboard out there. I came from what I thought was a great factory board, but the Voodoo is a game changer in every sense. Oh yeah, and then there’s the graphics. Josh McEwen’s photo of the Slate River Valley just north of Crested Butte is SIIIICCCKKK!!!! I haven’t seen a more aesthetic top sheet around.” – Will S.

“Despite the steady avalanche danger in the San Juans last winter, I had the pleasure of getting out on my 171 Solomon Cold Smoke several times. From high-alpine hardpack to powder-drenched basins to late spring sun-bake, my Cold Smoke custom rose to the occasion. First, the hardware. Everything is mounted super snug, nothin rattles loose, and the fit of the cut is tight. Touring, what a pleasure.  “Cold Smoke is great with any repairs you need. Their customer service is above and beyond. Kudos, gentlemen.” There’s definitely no goin back to luggin my board on my back and fumbling out of deep postholes in shoes. The board breaks down into skis easily and floats you through those flats. When its time to descend, bust out your scraper, slap your sticks together, and your ready to rip. My custom is firm, but responsive. It drives right through any conditions encountered and takes a good beating. I’m a big guy and inflict a lot of carnage on my boards. Cold Smoke is great with any repairs you need. Their customer service is above and beyond. Kudos, gentlemen.I highly recommend working with the guys at Cold Smoke to create the setup you need to free yourself this winter. Thanks again boys.” -ZACH Rico, Colo.
